[21:42] <Luke771> hm? update.sh is not finding the file, it ran 10 attempts and exited with 'No mirror is available at the moment, please try again later'. Should I try with a newer update.sh from the website?
[21:42] <FreenetLogBot> r21399 (1154) was built successfully on emu, mirrors are updating
[21:43] <Luke771> (I guess I just have to wait some minutes)
[21:43] <Luke771> still not found...
[21:43] <Luke771> trying with a newer update.sh
[21:43] <Luke771> no, it got it eventually.
[21:43] <Luke771> good
[21:44] <saces> its build, but the node does not report thr versuin number
[21:45] <Luke771> nextgens: ok, now it looks good. Updatying trasnlation
[21:48] * Vasiliev (n=Aleksei@) has joined #freenet
[21:48] <Luke771> I hope I got that wrong: the line about 'allow node to bootstrap itself using seednodes' sounds like opennet is enabled by default now (please tell me I got it wrong)
[21:49] <Vasiliev> Anybody know how long FMS is supposed to take to start and be usable?
[21:49] <reflect> about 3 seconds?
[21:50] <Luke771> it starts as soon as you start it. It's usable usually within 24 hours since you announce you identity.
[21:50] <nextgens> Luke771> that setting is useless if opennet is off
[21:51] <Luke771> you should start seeing messages right ways, and also send messages is possible right away. However, it can take some hours before your messages become visible, because your identity need to get some trust from other identities
[21:51] <nextgens> announcement and path-folding are the two methods opennet use to gather new peers
[21:51] <Vasiliev> It says to use web interface to configure, but going to interface loads a blank page.
[21:51] <Luke771> nextgens: so opennet is still off by default?
[21:51] <nextgens> yeah
[21:51] <Luke771> ok. good
[21:54] <Vasiliev> Can retrieve board list using Thunderbird, but cannot do any configuration since the web interface shows nothing.
[21:55] * sich (n=sich@) Quit ("KVIrc 3.2.6 Anomalies http://www.kvirc.net/")
[21:55] <Vasiliev> Can also retrieve messages fine.
[22:00] <FreenetLogBot> r21404 (ThawIndexBrowser) was built successfully on emu, mirrors are updating
[22:01] <Luke771> Vasiliev: what version are you running? on what OS?
[22:02] <Vasiliev> WinXP SP2
[22:02] <Vasiliev> Finding vers#.
[22:03] <Vasiliev> Used fms-win32bin-0.3.13.zip file to get it.
[22:03] <Luke771> FMS version
[22:04] <toad_> Luke771: so is there a serious problem with the mirrors network? if so, please tell nextgens...
[22:04] <Luke771> it's in the filename, if you can't see the web interface
[22:04] <Luke771> toad_: I think I just tried to get the latest truck too early
[22:05] <toad_> ok
[22:06] <toad_> are you still testing db4o? i think the improvements i made today may have significantly improved the memory/OOM situation
[22:07] <Luke771> nextgens: I have re-translated the untranslated strings (a more complete update will be sent around end of the month) now the problem is, how do I make sure that I'm sending the file with the right encoding? Mousepad opens it as utf-8 but keywrite always switches back to iso-<somenumber>, so I guess until I learn how to switch the system default I better pastebin it instead of sending the file @devl
[22:07] <toad_> hmmm well it's maybe not solved the problem ... but it's an improvement
[22:08] <Luke771> toad_: db4o seems to ru fine foe me
[22:08] <toad_> Luke771: ummm
[22:08] <Luke771> otoh i may have some errors and not have norticed them
[22:08] <toad_> Luke771: just send the file; don't do anything to it after the node generates it
[22:08] <Luke771> I'll send you my logs if you want
[22:08] <toad_> Luke771: hmmm
[22:08] <toad_> inserts too?
[22:08] <toad_> or just requests?
[22:09] <toad_> lots and lots of requests?
[22:09] <Luke771> I dunno I don't have inserts in my queue right now. Downloads seem to progress fine
[22:09] <toad_> cool!
[22:09] <Luke771> those three linux distros
[22:09] <toad_> how many/how many bytes?
[22:09] <toad_> ok
[22:09] <Luke771> only 3 D/L's but relatively big
[22:09] <Luke771> 3x ...~700MB I guess
[22:10] * toad_ has those 3 linux distros plus the redflag iso (i really hope that's legal!), plus all the ISOs on my resources page, 6 of which have found metadata ...
[22:10] <toad_> all in a memory limit of 128MB
[22:11] <Luke771> OK, I'll send the l10n file as it is, without doing anything with it, but double check the encoding before committing, I'm not sure what my system is doiong with that kind of stuff yet( bein on slcak for less than 2 weeks)
[22:11] <toad_> so far it's doing full GC constantly, but memory usage after GC is only 75MB or so
[22:11] <toad_> so i'm almost ready to move on to requests ... if it doesn't do any NPEs overnight or other wierd things, which it might well
[22:12] <toad_> Cooo: you around?
[22:12] * Tril (i=tril@) has left #freenet
[22:12] <toad_> nextgens: have you fixed the NPE in the entropy gathering thread reported on FMS? i'm about to file a bug for it, there is multiple corroboration...
[22:15] * toad_ filed bug anyway
[22:16] <Vasiliev> Tried getting the Runtime files from the FMS site and restarting it, still doesn't work. I have latest version according to FMS site.
[22:17] <Vasiliev> Trying to go to 127.0.0.1:8080/anything will create a 404 error.
[22:19] <Luke771> ok
[22:19] <Luke771> how you launched FMS?
[22:20] <Luke771> Vasiliev: did you simply click on the .exe, or did you install the service from the DOS emulator?
[22:21] <Luke771> dos prompt or however that's called, the cmd shell
[22:23] <Vasiliev> I first tried running by double-clicking on it normally. It stated that FMS is not running. I now have it running as a service. I have restarted the service after adding the Runtime files, which didn't help.
[22:23] <Vasiliev> It stated that FMS is running*, how did that not get there
[22:24] <Luke771> try uninstalling and resinatlling the service
[22:24] <Luke771> shut it down frist, then uninstall, then reinstall it
[22:24] <Luke771> (the theory is that with the runtime files in place it will install properly)
[22:24] <Luke771> you can always hope...
[22:26] <Luke771> toad_ has those 3 linux distros plus the redflag iso (i really hope that's legal!) <= Of course it is. Linux distros are freely downloadable and redistributable
[22:27] <Luke771> all those 3 dostros are GPL licensed (I didn't really check but it's logical to assume they are)
[22:28] <Luke771> damn now you got me thinking about that (checking out licenses)
[22:28] <Vasiliev> I believe every Linux distro is required to be GPL licensed, due to using Linux kernel among other things.
[22:28] <Luke771> makes sense, huh?
[22:28] <Vasiliev> But anyway, web interface still does not work.
[22:28] <kork> toad_: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Flag_Linux
[22:28] <Luke771> if the linux kernel is GPL licensed, all distros are
[22:28] <Vasiliev> FMS just sits there makings its database bigger and bigger.
[22:29] <Luke771> Vasiliev: have you uninstalled/reinstalled yet?
[22:29] <Vasiliev> I stopped service, unregistered service, registered service, ran service.
[22:30] <Luke771> ...and? still invisible web interface?
[22:30] <Vasiliev> Yes.
[22:30] <Luke771> hmpf
[22:30] <Vasiliev> Now wiping the folder and starting from scratch.
[22:30] <Luke771> k
[22:31] <Luke771> if it still doesn't work, you can try an earlier version
[22:31] <Luke771> 0.2.23 worked for pretty much anyone
[22:32] <Luke771> Vasiliev: oh BTW: What browser are you using to see the web interface? Have you tried with different browsers?
[22:33] <Vasiliev> Both Firefox 20080626 and IE7 do not show it. View-source in firefox shows a complete blank.
[22:33] <Luke771> Vasiliev: the database won't grow too much: mine is 7.2MB and i've been using fms for months
[22:33] <Vasiliev> My database was at 2MB when I wiped.
[22:33] <Luke771> hm
[22:33] <Vasiliev> Where can I find older versions?
[22:34] <Luke771> try again with the latest one first
[22:34] <Vasiliev> Already wiped and installed as a service, still not working.
[22:34] <Luke771> ok
[22:34] <Luke771> use the key to the FMS freesite but replace /72/ with -58/
[22:35] <Luke771> and USK with SSK
[22:35] <Luke771> that is SSK<key>-58/
[22:35] <Luke771> that is SSK<key>/fms-58/
[22:35] <nextgens> Luke771> no idea; get a real text editor like vim :)
[22:36] <nextgens> toad_> I'm not aware of any npe
[22:39] <Vasiliev> Got it and downloading 0.2.23. How is security compared to newest?
[22:40] * JazZz99 (n=coltrane@) Quit ("Leaving")
[22:44] <Luke771> nextgens: the problem was not the file editor but the system default
[22:44] <Luke771> now fixed but the file I just sent needs to be double checked anyway
[22:45] <Luke771> because I sent it before fixing the problem
[22:45] <Vasiliev> 0.2.23 has the same problem.
[22:45] <Luke771> well then
[22:45] <Luke771> looks like some problem in your OS
[22:46] <Luke771> but
[22:46] <Luke771> if you can feth messages you probably can send them too. try asking for help on the FMS board
[22:47] <Luke771> hm never mind
[22:47] <Luke771> you can't announce your identity
[22:47] <Luke771> do this
[22:47] <Luke771> nah that would be kind of difficult
[22:48] <Luke771> I was thinking about booting from a live CD and run FMS from there to announce your ID but you ìd need to make a freenet configured for windows to run under linux... and then revert it (PITA)
[22:49] <Luke771> I'll try to look into the fms board if anyone had this kind of problem
[22:50] <nextgens> toad_> it's a jvm bug affecting only windows in fact :<
[22:51] <FreenetLogBot> r21406 (1154) was built successfully on emu, mirrors are updating
[22:54] <FreenetLogBot> r21407 (1154) was built successfully on emu, mirrors are updating
[22:56] <Luke771> Vasiliev: I can't find anything like your problem on the fms board :(
[22:58] <Luke771> anyhow if you had the same problem with 0.3.13 and 0.2.23 I suspect that either you have done somethng the wriong way (double check) or that it's a problem in your system
[23:00] <Luke771> nextgens: 21407 looks good
[23:06] <FreenetLogBot> The monitoring script has detected a network glitch on http://mirror3.freenetproject.org/ : it has been disabled
[23:12] <nextgens> could specialisation depend on the keytype or not?
[23:12] <nextgens> ie: does it make sense to keep separate stats for each keytype?
[23:12] <nextgens> toad_> ^
[23:13] <nextgens> I would tend to say that it doesn't matter
[23:13] <nextgens> but I'm not 100% sure because of bandwidth limiting
[23:13] <nextgens> it might play us some tricks
[23:14] <nextgens> I'm implementing #2466: Histograms of incoming requests atm
[23:19] <toad_> nextgens: if routing is working then it shouldn't matter
[23:20] <nextgens> okay
[23:20] <FreenetLogBot> The monitoring script has detected that http://mirror3.freenetproject.org/ is eligible to be back on the main mirror rotation list. Welcome Back!
[23:24] <FreenetLogBot> r21413 (KeyExplorer) was built successfully on emu, mirrors are updating
[23:27] * Luke771 is now known as luke771_afk
[23:50] * toad_ (n=toad@) Quit (Remote closed the connection)
