[18:22] * vesath (n=vesath@) has joined #freenet
[18:23] <falconz113> does anyone know a good commandline tool for doing large chk inserts on linux?
[18:23] * vesath (n=vesath@) Quit (Client Quit)
[18:23] <cyberdo> falconz113: are the node and the huge file on the same computer?
[18:23] * vesath (n=vesath@) has joined #freenet
[18:23] <falconz113> yes
[18:24] <cyberdo> and is this a one-time large insert, or you're going ti insert more in the future?
[18:24] <falconz113> i plan to insert more files, but they're unrelated
[18:24] <cyberdo> ok... if you just want to put the file into the net, you could use telnet
[18:25] <falconz113> with what command?
[18:25] <falconz113> PUT: something?
[18:26] <cyberdo> enable something like that
[18:26] <cyberdo> type "help"
[18:26] <cyberdo> seems like my server crashed right now ;o/
[18:27] <falconz113> can i restart the node while inserting?
[18:27] <falconz113> will it pick up where i left off, i mean
[18:27] <cyberdo> uhm... that's not really my area
[18:27] <falconz113> kk
[18:27] <cyberdo> I _think_ so
[18:28] <falconz113> alright, i have another question
[18:28] <falconz113> this one's mostly for curiosity's sake
[18:28] <falconz113> also... my ps -A list is full of gij-wrapper-4.1 lines, but I'm
[18:28] <falconz113> running sun jvm
[18:28] <falconz113> according to the stats page, at least
[18:29] <falconz113> so, any idea what's up?
[18:33] <cyberdo> uhm
[18:34] <cyberdo> no ;o)
[18:34] <falconz113> alright :D
[18:35] * saces (n=saces@) has joined #freenet
[18:37] <falconz113> quick irc question: is there an easy way to list the mods on a channel? I'm using irssi.
[18:37] <cyberdo> /n
[18:37] * Ratchet (n=xxxx@) has joined #freenet
[18:37] <cyberdo> or... what do you mean with mod? "mode +s"?
[18:37] <falconz113> aha, thx
[18:39] <Ratchet> hi all. at the moment i am running y freenet node on a freebsd and everything runs smoothly. for a few tests i wanted to start in on a ubuntu linux box, but i get "nice: ./bin/wrapper-linux-x86-32: Permission denied" error. the wrapper is a binary file so i can't see anything... does anyone know what to do?
[18:40] <Ratchet> I can use nice as regular user without problems
[18:41] <Ratchet> do I have to use the wrapper or is there a way to start the java bin directly?
[18:43] <saces> you can set the nice level on top of run.sh
[18:43] <Tommy[D]> do you have the permission to execute the wrapper?
[18:44] <Ratchet> yes, the user has the permissions to execute
[18:44] <Ratchet> chaning the ncie level doesn't solve the problem
[18:46] <falconz113> Hello everyone. My ps -A list is filled with gij-wrapper lines, but according to FProxy's stats page, I'm running on the Sun JVM. Any idea what's happening?
[18:48] <Ratchet> oh, if I comment out the PRIORITY=15 line in run.sh, it works :-)
[18:48] <Ratchet> but still, it would be interesting why it won't use nice...
[18:48] <Tommy[D]> Did you try to kill the gij-wrappers, if you are sure, you did not start it? Afterwards its possible you know more :>
[18:48] <falconz113> good idea
[18:49] <falconz113> according to /proc, they're all owned by freenet
[18:49] <Ratchet> gij-wrappers? :-)
[18:50] <falconz113> i'm using sun's jvm, but my ps list is filled with the gnu jvm's processes
[18:51] <falconz113> even stranger: there are 197 of them, but freenet is only claiming to have 135 threads open
[18:51] <Tommy[D]> Ratchet, did you create a seperate user for freenet and entered it in the config or do you run it yourself?
[18:52] <Tommy[D]> falconz113, perhaps stop freenet, kill all java-related stuff, restart freenet and watch it?
[18:52] <Ratchet> I run it as my normal user. I didn't enter a username in the config, because it didn't occur to me, as it runs on the freebsd box without such a change
[18:53] <falconz113> in the default linux installation, there is a dedicated freenet user
[18:53] <Ratchet> oh god....
[18:53] <Ratchet> I forgot to run ./bin/1run.sh
[18:53] <Ratchet> forgive me :-)
[18:54] <falconz113> :D stupid mistakes are the best kind
[18:54] <Ratchet> at least they are solvable ;-)
[18:54] <falconz113> i've been trying to insert a file all morning, and it turned out that my freenet user didn't have read permission on it :D
[18:55] <falconz113> @Tommy[D] I'm stopping freenet right now
[18:55] <falconz113> after i kill the java, what should i be looking for when i restart freenet?
[18:56] <Ratchet> :-)
[18:56] <falconz113> alright, when the node stopped, all the gij-wrappers when away
[18:57] <falconz113> wait a minute.

[18:58] <falconz113> spearking?
